Personal Development Planning
We recommend you spend a bit of time reflecting on your current strengths and weaknesses - maybe find out the essential and desirable skills and personal attributes required for your ideal job - and use these as the basis for planning your personal development.
In order to assist in this process you may find it helpful to consult your supervisor, or to access the full range of careers resources from the University of Cambridge Careers Service.
The UK government graduate information website (www.prospects.ac.uk) also has a useful online database of job profiles and skills required for different sectors, which may be useful when formulating your personal development plan.
Identification of those skills you already have and those you will need to develop is called 'Training Needs Analysis'.
Once you have identified those skills you need to develop or strengthen, you should look for appropriate courses to help you do so.
