In order to progress through your career – whether that means climbing the ladder in one organisation, moving through different organisations within a particular job area, or even changing careers every 5 years – you’ll need to constantly adapt your knowledge and skills as you take on new roles and responsibilities.
It makes sense, then, to use every stage of your career to develop as wide a skills-set as possible. When you start a job, you might not need to use all the skills and experiences you’ve developed to date, but you’ll be ready to take on new challenges when they come along, and you might find that these challenges open new doors and lead you to your next position.
And it’s not just something to think about here in Cambridge. Throughout your career you’ll have plenty of other opportunities to personally develop, through training offered by your employer, as well as other experiences.
